A message from our CEO, Luanne Welch

The people of Easterseals PORT Health AREย Easterseals PORT Health.
Three wordsย come to mind when describing the people & organization I love & serve: Courage, Compassion & Care.
We demonstrate courage every time we change, grow & do more. As the needs of those we support change, WE change. We donโt always get it right the first time, but we grow together by asking thoughtful questions, listening with humility & respect, and moving forward from our mistakes.
We lead & serve with compassion. Fostering empathy & resilience within our team, our clients & communities. We meet people where they are & move forward together.
We careย about the people we support & each other – the whole person. We careย allย the time –ย 24/7 – not just during the workday. We face challenges head-on & find solutions – together. We willย continueย to find ways to show up for the people who count on us every day.
Our courage, compassion & care fuel our commitment to be better & do better. We are dedicated to the IDEAL principles of Inclusive Culture, Different Voices, Embracing Potential, Authentic Self and Learning & Growing.
At theย heart of ESPHย is a resilient, sustainable, healthy, purpose-driven organization that is & will be here –ย day now & forward.
Thatโs who we are. Thatโs what we do. I invite you to join us!

Even though Breast Cancer Awareness Month has ended, our support does not stop! Easterseals PORT Health`s team proudly stands together in solidarity.
๐ Vanessa, Tailored Care Management Extender, wears pink in remembrance and celebration of her sister-in-lawโs life โ a woman whose faith, strength and love continue to inspire her every day. โShe was a very loving, caring person who was full of hope and love for God. She fought with confidence and the biggest smile on her face, persevering until the end. I wear pink in her honor to say, โThank you for the hope you left with me.โโ
๐ Emily, Early Intervention Program Manager, wears pink for her loved ones who have survived breast cancer and those who are currently fighting. She reminds all women to get checked every year and celebrates her mother-in-lawโs milestone of being 15 years cancer-free!
๐ Cheryl, Chief Marketing Officer, joined the 2025 Komen Charlotte MORE THAN PINK Walk, which raised over $384,000 for breast cancer research and patient support. After her friendโs diagnosis and double mastectomy this past August, Cheryl walks with a renewed spirit of hope and a deeper understanding of why early detection truly matters.
Letโs continue to spread awareness, support one another and celebrate strength all year long.

Pictured are Maria (Nurse Practitioner), Lateisha (Medical Assistant) and Ebonie (Patient Services Coordinator Team Lead). They are all a part of our Substance Use Clinic in Greenville, NC.
Ebonie shares, โBreast Cancer Awareness is important to me because my mother lost her battle five years ago on October 29. My mother was, and still is, the sunshine in my life. Our team members are wearing pink throughout October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month โค๏ธ
Ann, the Office Manager for VA REACH (Virginia Regional Education Assessment Crisis Services Habilitation), is proudly sporting her pink shirt and shares:
"Breast Cancer Awareness Month is important to me because I have friends who passed away from breast cancer. My mom is a breast cancer survivor, and I supported her through her diagnosis and treatment. Breast cancer awareness gives people the freedom to share their experiences, support one another and honor those weโve lost.โ
Every pink shirt is a symbol of hope, strength and unity in the fight against breast cancer.
