“I thoroughly enjoy working for ESPH and with the people. Without loving, caring and dedicated people, none of what we do is possible. I enjoy helping adolescents and working with their families to help foster positive change for the future. I am grateful to be a part of such a great team!”

“During my 13 years here, I’ve been able to cultivate strengths and abilities that have even surprised me. ESPH allows me to authentically use my gifts and make a positive impact on my teams and those we support. I truly feel seen here!”

“I joined the PORT Health Adolescent Residential Substance Use Treatment Program six months ago. It felt like home the minute I walked into the building and was welcomed into my new family. I love working here because I’m able to teach kids things that I didn’t have the opportunity to learn growing up.”

“I help children and families achieve goals and make positive changes. I’m proud to be a part of this program. 8 years ago, I came here from another country, different culture and with a fear of being rejected. But the team made me feel at home and accepted me with great affection!”

“Prevention is often the community’s first exposure to PORT Health. I was hired as a Substance Use Prevention Specialist in 2006. Since then, I’ve implemented programs and built relationships that help increase prevention efforts. I’ve been able to serve the community I grew up in and still call home. Giving back is very rewarding!”

“I was warmly welcomed onto the Early Intervention team 12 years ago. I thoroughly enjoy empowering caregivers by coaching them through interactions with the young children in their care and joining them in celebrating their successes!”

“This is my second ‘career’ and I’ve never worked in a place that cares more for its people. We spend our days attending to the needs of those we support and ESPH consistently gives the same care and consideration to its staff.”

“When I first started, I didn’t have any IDD experience and I wasn’t sure how I would fit in. However, the participants and staff were so welcoming. Since then, in the 4-1/2 years I’ve been here, I’ve enjoyed being part of meaningful and enriching experiences every day.”

“I joined ESPH 4 years ago. I’ve been encouraged to develop my skills and given access to the support needed to take on more challenging roles. I have gained knowledge beyond my beliefs. ESPH has amazing teams!”

“I came here as a child myself and quickly knew I was home! I was always supervised and consistently taken care of. Love is something you feel immediately and at ESPH, you feel it once you step in the door. I enjoy working here because of the kids. Now I’m the older person they can learn from in a positive way.”

“It’s hard to believe that I’ve been with ESPH for 18 years! I’m still here because I sincerely believe in our purpose and what we stand for. I love watching our kids become more independent and learn that they have a voice. Every day is a privilege.”

“I became a Multisystemic Therapist to utilize this unique and intensive approach to providing community-based interventions for serious juvenile offenders. I enjoy working directly with families and helping them make positive life changes!”

“My job is an integral part of my identity and I’m very proud to work here! The ESPH culture encourages me to reach my full potential, both professionally and personally. ESPH prioritizes its team members and emphasizes accountability, commitment and caring.”

I joined ESPH nine years ago and everyday I’m honored to do what I do! I lead a team that helps young people and their families find hope, make changes and learn to overcome their own unique challenges to achieve goals for themselves and their families.

“ESPH does great things for people. I love helping people and connecting them with our services and programs. I love meeting all kinds of people. There’s never a dull moment!”

After months of planning alongside our generous sponsors, volunteers and table hosts, the Miracle Moments Luncheon at the beautiful @theumstead was a tremendous success. With 160 guests in attendance, we raised more than $100,000 to support the life-changing programs at Easterseals PORT Health.
Because of the generosity of our sponsors, board members, donors and table hosts, we were able to share our mission, highlight our impact and expand both awareness and funding for the individuals and families we serve.
Thank you for helping us turn moments into miracles. 💙

World Down Syndrome Day is observed every year on March 21! This day is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the well-being of individuals with Down syndrome. The date, 3/21, symbolizes the triplication of the 21st chromosome, which defines Down syndrome 💛
We are proud to highlight Savanna, a participant of our EMPOWER Adult Wellness & Recreation program in New Bern, NC.
💬"It is important to recognize World Down Syndrome Day because people with Down syndrome are cool, awesome and amazing! We sometimes need people to help us, but we find joy in things everyone else does, like being with friends or receiving a gift!" shares Savanna
