Do you have a passion for making a real difference in the lives of people living with mental health challenges and substance-use disorders? At Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH), we’re seeking a compassionate and dedicated Medical Director to join our Behavioral Health team in North Carolina.
What You’ll Do
As the Medical Director at ESPH, you will be responsible for the administration and oversight of the clinical operations of Behavioral Health Services. You will work closely with, and lead, a team of humble, hungry and smart extenders, providers, clinicians, nurses and administrative staff. Under your collaborative leadership the team will identify recurring health trends, benchmark and implement current evidence based best practices and work together to ensure that all individuals receive the highest quality of care treating their whole person. This role will require travel throughout NC where services are provided and reports to the CMO.
Additionally, the IDEAL Medical Director at ESPH will:
- Build collaborative supervision relationships with their team that focus on exploring different approaches to care that in turn increase positive provider-patient therapeutic relationship
- Ensure up-to-date credentials for medical staff to maintain compliance
- Consult on patient care, best practice guidelines, and care standards
- Use KPIs and root-cause analysis to improve clinical efficiency
- Address clinical quality improvements and service expansion
- Contribute in the recruitment and evaluation of Behavioral Health Providers
- Provide in-person and telemedicine services as needed
- This opportunity is approximately 40% clinical and 60% administrative

IDEAL candidates will have the following:
- MD or DO degree and Board certified or Board Eligible in General Psychiatry
- A current, valid license to practice psychiatry in the state of North Carolina.
- Board certification in addiction medicine is a plus!
- We are also seeking candidates with a minimum of:
- 10 years’ experience in the treatment of individuals with mental health disorders and dual diagnosis
- 5 years’ experience treating individuals with substance use disorders
- 5 years’ experience as Medical Director or Associate Medical Director
- 5 years’ clinical teaching and/or private practice experience
