Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team in Dunn, NC. This contract role involves supervising team members who provide long-term, community-based treatment for adults with severe and persistent mental health needs that have not been adequately addressed by traditional treatment services. The position requires 16-24 hours per week assisting the ACT Team with psychiatric assessments and medication management in the community.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct monthly assessments, psychiatric evaluations and services, and treatments for individuals, monitoring symptoms and medication side effects and providing medication management services. Frequency of visits will vary, with most individuals seen every 4 to 6 weeks, and many contacts occurring in the community.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat adults experiencing behavioral health disorders
- Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue medications and treatments for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
- Collaborate with the team leader to share clinical responsibility for monitoring individuals.
- Provide treatment and clinical supervision to the team in collaboration with the Team Lead.
- Work closely with nurses to develop and implement medication administration policies and procedures.
- Oversee the medical care of beneficiaries, including regular screenings for medical conditions and wellness assessments.
- Educate non-medical team members on psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications, their side effects, and health-related conditions.
- Provide diagnostic and medication education to beneficiaries, using shared decision-making for medication choices.
What We’re Looking For
- A Master’s or higher degree in Nursing or a related field with a primary focus on Nursing.
Successful completion of a graduate-level nurse practitioner education program accredited by a national accrediting body. - Documentation of certification by a national credentialing body.
- An unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina and, if applicable, an unrestricted approval, registration, or license as a nurse practitioner in another state, territory, or possession of the United States.
- Successfully completion of a nurse practitioner education program as outlined in Rule .0805.
- Certification as a nurse practitioner by a national credentialing body consistent with 21 NCAC 36 .0801(8).
- Board eligibility or certification in psychiatry or ASAM-eligible or certified.
- A current, unrestricted DEA license and be in good standing with federal agencies.
- A current NPI number.
- Individual liability insurance coverage for practice.
