Outpatient Substance Use Treatment

Outpatient Substance Use Treatment

Easterseals PORT Health’s outpatient treatments provide services that include individual and group therapy, family counseling, psycho-educational and psychotherapy. Each of these are defined services that may vary in level of intensity. We have services that target the specific needs of adults and young people. Our programs utilize evidence-based approaches to achieve the best possible outcomes.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) finds that only 10% of the 21.2 million Americans older than 12 years old actually receive the necessary treatment for their mental health and substance use disorders. Easterseals PORT Health offers outpatient treatment programs for both adolescents and adults.

We utilize a flexible approach with the expertise of our interdisciplinary team. As one of the largest treatment and rehabilitation providers in eastern North Carolina, our patients know to expect quality clinical services with a unique brand of patient centered care.

We know that growing up can be a challenging time for young people, especially when coupled with challenges in their behavior, attention and mood or when there are difficulties at home or at school. Experimentation with substances and drug/alcohol use by the youth or family member can further complicate a child’s development. If these challenges go untreated, young people can develop low self-esteem, perform poorly at school, have troubling relationships and not live up to their potential. We believe with quality therapeutic interventions, children and adolescents are able to develop the coping tools and life skills needed to acquire the highest level of functioning possible.

As a leading provider of adolescent treatment, we provide best-in-class prevention and treatment services for children and adolescents across Eastern North Carolina. Our comprehensive approach to treatment begins with a thorough assessment to customize their treatment. We provide a variety of youth therapies that includes:

  • Individual therapy.
  • Family therapy.
  • Group therapy.

In addition, we also offer day treatment and residential services for youth.

Easterseals PORT Health is provides effective child and adolescent substance use treatment services that are provided by an interdisciplinary team of caring, professional counselors and medical staff. We use results-based practice models that are essential to the success of our child and adolescent services.

How should we prepare for our first visit?

The appointment may last up to 2 hours. The parent or guardian must attend the appointment and provide proof of guardianship. Guardians should bring any records relative to school, pediatrician, emergency room visits or hospitalizations related to emotional or behavioral problems.

After the initial appointment, it may take several appointments to fully develop a treatment plan. During this time, Easterseals PORT Health will review the child’s records and coordinate with other service providers to ensure treatment recommendations are a good fit for your family.
