The Squad in Forsyth County, NC
Forsyth County’s funding of this great program allows us to connect individuals with similar IDD lived experiences in Forsyth County. Easterseals PORT Health’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Peer Support services promotes self-determination and supports in making life choices. We provide advocacy and help individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities identify social determinants of health that need resources in order to become a part of their community. Are you ready to join The Squad?
The Individual and Community Services team supports individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and severe emotionally disturbed/serious mental illness (IDD and SED/SMI). We provide one-to-one and group services uniquely tailored to help each unique family acquire and maintain resources for social determinants of health.
Family Peer Support Services provides support to caregivers to develop social networks and connections within their local communities. We also emphasize, promote and coordinate the use of general resources to address the family’s needs.

Hello Cynthia!
Cynthia originally joined the team as a Peer Squad participant. However, she has such great insight and the ability to connect with her peers about resources that Easterseals PORT Health hired her as a Peer Support Team Lead! Now she’s able to share her lived experiences and knowledge of where and how to access resources with even more people.
