April is Alcohol Awareness Month and we’re honored to share Tiffany’s story, a testament to the power of community, resilience and support.
SAIOP stands for Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program. It’s a type of evidence-based outpatient treatment for individuals with substance use disorders. It provides a high level of structure and support, typically with multiple sessions per week.

Tiffany
When Tiffany first joined SAIOP at Easterseals PORT Health, she wasn’t sure what to expect. Like many others in the program, Tiffany struggled with feelings of shame and self-doubt. However, through SAIOP, she found a safe space to heal and grow along with a sense of connection and understanding.
“I’ve always felt ashamed, embarrassed and like a failure. SAIOP helped me meet new people and hear their stories, which were similar to mine. It reminded me that I wasn’t alone in what I was going through. I thank God for each and every one person who showed me support during a very difficult time. SAIOP ended up being a good experience that helped me through a tough time.”
Tiffany’s journey didn’t end when SAIOP concluded. She continues to use the tools and resources she gained to maintain her well-being. From spending time with positive people to reading and practicing meditation, she’s found healthy ways to stay grounded and focused. Tiffany’s advice to others seeking help is simple but powerful:
- Believe that change is possible.
- Reach out to a Crisis Center or visit the Emergency Department for immediate support.
- Connect with Easterseals PORT Health for support and resources.
Tiffany’s courage and resilience serve as a reminder that recovery is possible and support is always within reach. This Alcohol Awareness Month, we celebrate her strength and the countless others who continue taking steps toward healing every day.
