Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH) was recently recognized at a special “Transforming Lives” event hosted by Onslow Community Collaborative and Carteret Community Collaborative. The celebration brought together community partners who share a commitment to supporting children, families and caregivers across Onslow and Carteret, NC.

During the event, ESPH received the Compassion in Action Award. This award recognizes an organization that goes above and beyond in family advocacy and parental support, showing genuine empathy, care and dedication to the wellbeing of others. We were truly honored to be recognized for the work we do every day alongside the families we support.
Holly, ESPH Lead Family Navigator
In addition, ESPH’s own Holly, who is Lead Family Navigator, was presented with the Children and Families Advocate Award. This award honors someone who works tirelessly to protect, nurture and empower children and families, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
Holly has been a part of the Onslow Community Collaborative for eight years, first attending as a parent who wanted to work alongside the community to create greater inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities. Her lived experience continues to guide her advocacy and the meaningful support she provides to families. Reflecting on the recognition, Holly shared, “I’m sincerely grateful to Easterseals PORT Health for their commitment to valuing lived experience and for providing me with the opportunity to serve our communities through the Family Navigator role. I am also grateful to Trillium Health Resources, who created Family Navigator, for their ongoing commitment to innovative, strategic planning that addresses the needs of the members they serve.”
