National Volunteer Week is April 19-25, 2026. Easterseals PORT Health (ESPH) is extremely grateful for our dedicated volunteers and the positive impacts of their services. This year we are excited to highlight Stuart, who has been an ESPH volunteer for more than two years.

Stuart, an ESPH volunteer
How have you volunteered with ESPH?
“I currently volunteer with Easterseals PORT Health’s fundraising team in supporting two signature events (Chef Fest and Miracle Moments) and other fundraising initiatives as I’m needed. I’ve really enjoyed the last two years of helping to coordinate events, increase community engagement and helping the team with other fundraising efforts wherever I can.
What inspired you to become a volunteer and what keeps you motivated?
“I was inspired to volunteer because I believe strongly in the mission of Easterseals PORT Health and the impact the organization has on people with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges and substance use disorders. Seeing how these programs directly support individuals and families in our community motivated me to become involved. What keeps me coming back is witnessing the real difference these events make in raising funds to help support the organization’s awesome programs.”
Describe one of your most memorable volunteer experiences?
“One of the most memorable experiences for me has been participating in Chef Fest. Watching the community come together, from local chefs, volunteers, sponsors and attendees – all united to support Easterseals PORT Health programs – is incredibly powerful. Seeing everyone’s excitement during Chef Fest while knowing we are raising money to support life-changing services for individuals and families is something that has really left a lasting impression on me.”
How has volunteering personally impacted you?
“Volunteering has had a meaningful impact on both my personal and professional life. It has strengthened my connection to the community and reinforced the importance of service, compassion and advocacy. Having the opportunity to work closely with Easterseals PORT Health has deepened my professional appreciation for the role that healthcare, behavioral health services and community support systems play in improving people’s lives. Volunteering helps remind me why the work in this field matters so much.”
Thank you Stuart, for volunteering your time and talents to Easterseals PORT Health. You are greatly appreciated.
